What is the Development Centre?

Candidates undertake a series of exercises which are mapped to the twelve competencies which comprise The School Leadership Model. The competencies were arrived at by interviewing the headteachers of some of the best performing schools in England. Although initially developed in England, the materials used in the Centre have been adapted to reflect the IB’s principles and philosophy.

Applicants will receive a full copy of the competencies prior to their attendance at the development centre

What will you get?

Candidates will receive a bespoke profile setting out their strengths and development needs. As Sir William Atkinson states: ‘This is the best professional development I have ever had.’

After the candidate has received the profile, the assessor that worked with them at the Centre will ring them to provide additional feedback and coaching.

Who will carry out the assessments?

All our assessors have been successful school leaders who have been trained to carry out assessments. They can ‘walk the talk’ and provide you with insightful and knowledgeable feedback based on experience. In addition, they have been trained by the IB to develop their knowledge and understanding of the key principles of the IB.

In addition to the feedback and coaching session which comes as part of the initial price i.e. £1400, candidates can opt to book additional coaching sessions at approximately 2 monthly intervals.
